I've finished pencilling issue #2 of Stitched Crosses, and now that I'm unemployed I may be able to get a good chunk of issue #3 pencilled.

A short entry for today, but I don't have much to say.

Hey no problem!

I don't know if you remember me, but I'm the guy that Bippes told you to talk to about my senior show back in 2006. I did the large scale comic book paintings.

I think he wanted you to convince me not to go into the comic book industry... :D

HA! Yeah, I remember you. :) Knowing Bippes, he probably was trying to get me to talk you out of going into the comic book industry. Only those that are pretty much willing to live a life of poverty manage to do it (with the exception of guys like Jim Lee who gets paid ridiculous amounts of money). But if it's really fully and completely what you want to do, you have to give it a shot. Just know it's going to be an extremely tough road and that you may find your main source of income coming from something you were hoping a college education would have kept you from. I waited tables at TGI Fridays for a long time WHILE doing comics. lol.

Once again though, I wouldn't discourage you. Just let you know it's going to be extremely tough. I'll help if I can, but my contacts aren't what they used to be.

Oh yeah, I know full well that there is no money in comics. I knew that before I even knew that it was what I wanted to do. I just love the storytelling aspect of it. I'm working on a comic right now called "Stitched Crosses" for Grail Quest Books. It's a great story and I love it, but I know It's not goning to support me and my family.

I know what you mean about waiting tables...I was selling vaccuums door to door for a little while.

Well, as long as you know that part up front and are ready to do it along with something else to get by, then you should be quite ok. I think you have the attitude to work in the industry as far as you want to do it because you love doing it. And who knows. Someday you could become one of those chosen few that CAN make a decent living off of the industry. In the meantime, if there's anything I can help you with, let me know. :)
